This module will:
- Explore the reasons for weight regain, the barriers to sustainable weight loss, and ways to overcome them
- Discuss ways to personalise obesity care to achieve the best health outcomes for each individual patient
- Provide an overview of the latest developments in obesity research and their implications for precision treatment of obesity
Although precision obesity medicine, involving genetic analysis, is still some way off for obesity treatment, practitioners do have the means to make interventions more personalised and improve the patient’s chances of success. This module focuses on helping healthcare professionals develop a more targeted approach to devising interventions for individual patients, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach or leaving it to factors such as availability, cost, and patient or physician preferences, which often determine weight loss treatments at present.
This module requires a payment of the standard CCH Postgraduate Module fee £1185.
