This module looks at obesity in children and adolescents and focuses on the unique aspects of preventing and treating obesity in this age group.
The module aims to:
- Provide an understanding of the challenges we face in tackling paediatric obesity.
- Review the immediate and long-term health and well-being consequences of paediatric obesity.
- Facilitate the design of best practice protocols for prevention and treatment of obesity, suitable for children between 2 years and 18 years.
- Add to the body of knowledge in Obesity DebateGraph
Obesity in the 2-18 year old age range generates immediate and long-term health and well-being consequences. In this module, nutritional, genetic and environmental risk factors are reviewed. Trends and patterns – locally and globally will be considered along with preventative and treatment approaches and initiatives in different settings.
Analysis of the ongoing repercussions of obesity in this period, both physiologically and, particularly, psychologically, are key issues, along with the roles of parents, teachers, and government in addressing this problem.
This module requires a payment of the standard CCH Postgraduate Module fee £1185.
