Online CPD Course for Healthcare Practitioners
Behaviour Change Skills: Enhancing Motivation
You cannot motivate someone who does not want to change. But you can help them find their own reasons to.
This skills-based online CPD course teaches you motivational interviewing – the approach that works with human psychology, not against it.

WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR
For healthcare professionals who are exhausted from pushing patients toward change – and ready to learn how to draw it out instead.
Ideal for: GPs, nurses, dietitians, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, mental health professionals, and anyone who has ever thought “I have told them a hundred times – why will they not change?”
WHY PRACTITIONERS NEED THIS COURSE RIGHT NOW
Enhancing Motivation answers your critical questions:
1. Are you working harder than your patients to change their behaviour?
When you are more invested than they are something is off. Motivational interviewing gives you skills that shift this dynamic.
2. Do your patients say they want to change – then never do?
That gap is ambivalence. It is completely normal – and it requires a specific approach. Get it wrong and you create resistance. Get it right and you unlock change.
3. Have you ever felt like you are pushing against a closed door?
That feeling is a signal. The harder you push, the harder patients push back. MI offers a better way – where patients pull themselves toward change because they want to.
WHAT WILL I BE ABLE TO DO?
After this course, you will:
- Define motivation and motivational interviewing – Understand what MI is, the principles underlying it and why it works.
- Identify and demonstrate key MI skills – Recognise and practise reflective listening and other core techniques in real consultations.
- Apply MI strategies effectively – Use approaches to explore readiness, work with ambivalence and support decision-making.
- Recognise and strengthen change talk – Hear the language that signals movement and respond in ways that build motivation.
WHAT HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS SAY
“This has provided some really helpful practical questions and phrases, as well as MI background, that has made me think how to improve my practice.”
